Ice Cream Elf

Elf Ice Cream Card

Hello!

Here is the third card that I made for the Stamps of Life Fan Club Facebook group weekly challenge “ice cream.” For this card, I wanted to use a stamp set that wouldn’t normally be used for an ice cream card. This time, I used the Elves2Stamp stamp.  I stamped the image on Crafter’s Companion Spectrum Noir Ultra Smooth cardstock and colored with my alcohol markers and then die cut it with the matching Elves2Stamp die.

The miniature ice cream cones are from the IceCream2Stamp and were stamped onto the same cardstock and colored with Spectrum Sparkle markers. To get the double scoop of ice cream on the cones in the elf’s hand, I stamped the cone image a few times and fussy cut only the ice cream portion of the stamp two times and then layered the ice cream scoops on top of each other. Since the elf’s hands can open, I placed two ice cream cones in his hands.

The card base was die cut with the Sizzix Framelits Flip-Its by Stephanie Barnard (660714) using Banana cardstock. The patterned paper is from the Hello Friend Collection. The sentiment “for someone sweet” is also from the same patterned paper pad. The blue polka dot paper in the center was cut with a stitched rectangle die.

The Happy Birthday sentiment in the inside of the card is a stamp from the Foxes2Stamp stamp set. The “Calories don’t count on holidays” is from a stamp set from the BananaSplit2Stamp stamp set.

Lighthouse Card

Lighthouse2stamp

Hello! This card was super fun to make and it is perfect for a masculine card. I used the brand new lighthouse2stamp stamp and die set from The Stamps of Life.

To make this card, first I stamped the image onto Spectrum Noir Ultra Smooth Premium Cardstock using Lawn Fawn Jet Black ink. The stamped image does not have stripes so I decided to add my own. Using washi tape, I sectioned off portions of the image before starting to color. (In the image below, you can see the white washi tape on the image.)

Lighthouse - 1

After coloring the entire red section, I removed the washi tape, colored the gray section, and then colored the rest of the image. The image was colored using Copic and Spectrum Noir alcohol markers. The yellow windows were colored with the Spectrum Noir Sparkle markers in Moonlight. After the lighthouse was colored, I die cut the image using the lighthouse2stamp coordinating die.

Next, I worked on the sky background. Using Spectrum Noir Sparkle markers (Blue Topaz, Aquamarine, and Moonstone), I colored a piece of Strathmore Bristol Smooth paper. I started with the darkest color, Blue Topaz, and drew lines across the paper. Then I moved to the medium color, Aquamarine, and drew lines directly underneath the Blue Topaz lines. Next I followed with the lightest color, Moonstone. After all the markers were on the paper, I used a wet paint brush and smoothed out the colors.

The blue water colored paper was cut down into a piece that could fit nicely on top of the card. I stamped the sentiment and birds onto the blue water colored paper and then adhered the lighthouse to the blue paper.

Next, I cut a piece of Strawberry cardstock that is just slightly larger than the blue paper and then adhered the blue paper to the Strawberry card stock. The Strawberry cardstock was adhered to the A2 card base using foam adhesive to add dimension. The A2 card base was cut with Gingersnap paper.

Next, using hot glue, I added shells to the bottom of the card. (I don’t recall the name of the company I purchased the shells from. They were at the Stamp and Scrapbook Expo Orlando in 2018. If I find the name, I’ll update the blog post.)

The inside of the card was stamped with a “Happy Birthday” sentiment from the lighthouse2stamp stamp from The Stamps of Life.

“Just a Note” Raccoon Pudgie

RaccoonPudgie23_JustANote_

Hello!Today on my blog is a masculine card. I made this card for my 15-year old son. He is flying to Dallas with his dad to test for his third degree senior black belt in Tae Kwon Do. Since I cannot be there to watch him test, this card is going in his suitcase so he will find it when he gets there. It’s just my way of sending him my love, happy thoughts, and encouragement (not that he needs it).

Okay…now for the supplies used…

The card base is the Sizzix Rectangle/Gift Card Flip-its Card Set (#660714) by Stephanie Barnard. The neat thing about this flip-it card is that you can make the middle rectangle part turn into a gift card holder, but I chose not to use it in this way. I just used the card base and the two decorative panels. I cut the card base out of Licorice card stock from The Stamps of Life. The two side panels were cut out of a piece of patterned paper from the Sweetheart collection patterned paper pad. Those panels were adhered using double-sided tape. The rectangle in the middle was cut from a piece of paper from the same patterned paper pad using a stitched rectangle die.

I used the “Just a Note” sentiment from the words4jar stamp set and stamped it onto the same gray paper that was used to cut out the stitched rectangle. The ink used was Lawn Fawn Jet Black Ink. I applied double-sided adhesive behind the sentiment and then die cut it using the coordinating die from the words4jar dies. The shadow layer was cut from Licorice card stock. The sentiment was adhered to the shadow layer and then adhered to the stitched rectangle.

The stamp used for this card is the raccoonpudgie23. I colored it with Spectrum Noir alcohol markers and then used the coordinating die cut to cut it out. (I cannot find this stamp anywhere on The Stamps of Life website. I don’t believe they sell it since it was given as a gift at one of their classes.)

To finish off this card, black embellishments from The Stamps of Life were added.
